Windows Mobile 2002 & 2003
Verizon Wireless has chosen the standard security configuration for Smartphone 2002 and 2003 devices which will require developers to code sign applications (Using Verizon Wireless' Privileged root certificate) that access privileged API's on the device. Developers that require this version of Smartphone devices unlocked for development and testing are required to email the bdsteam@verizonwireless.com and include the following information:

  • Application description
  • Privileged API's accessed
Once the required information is reviewed and approved, shipping details will be provided to send the device for developer enablement. Instructions for code signing your application will also be sent.

Pocket PC Phone Edition is unrestricted and no developer enablement or code signing is required.

Click the link Windows Mobile Security Policy for more detailed information on each of these security configurations.
